Inspection and validation
The 3D point cloud created by a laser scanning system can be used for dimensional inspection or GD&T, with the results being compared against nominal CAD values. Large point clouds can be overlaid on a CAD model for fast visual inspection of deviations.
Reverse engineering
It can be useful to take an existing physical part, measure it to determine its characteristics and then process the data to create a CAD model. This method is often used in cases where the product design process involves significant manual operation, such as in automotive design.
The Leica T-Probe is a completely wireless solution for probing hidden or hard-to-reach points. It combines minimal setup times, quick station changes, and a high point-acquisition rate with automatic stylus recognition and multi-function buttons for maximum productivity. This ergonomic device ensures fast, single-point data acquisition without cables or external power sources.
Used with the Leica Absolute Tracker AT960, the T-Probe provides a flexible, top-performance probing system with up to 30 meters of range. Small, light, and battery-powered, it delivers the highest accuracy among handheld probes while offering more than six degrees of freedom. Its user-friendly design helps streamline measurement processes for a wide range of professional applications.
